What Can a Heat Pump Do For You? webinar

This event has already taken place.

What can a heat pump do for you?

Home heating costs are soaring thanks to rising gas prices so there has never been a better time to switch to a cold climate air source heat pump to heat and cool your home.

Switching to a heat pump can save you thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the equipment. It will also dramatically reduce your home’s climate impact. But you may have questions about what is, for most Canadians, a relatively new technology.

That’s why the Ontario Clean Air Alliance has lined up some experts to answer your questions and tell you more about the benefits of heat pumps.

The event will have two presenters:

· Heather McDiarmid is the founder of McDiarmid Climate Consulting, which specializes in research work related to decarbonizing the residential sector. Heather has authored a couple of reports on the economic and climate benefits of heat pumps for the OCAA and will talk about the dollars and sense of switching.

· Gil Amdurski has been a technical coordinator on heat pump pilot projects for the Toronto Region Conservation Authority’s STEP program for 10 years, evaluating the real-world performance of the technology. Gil will share some findings from recent case studies and talk about options, such as hybrid systems.

Both Heather and Gil have also installed cold climate air source heat pumps in their homes, so they can also share their personal experiences.
