Eco Fun Fair - Clothing Swap!

The Pocket is having a big clothing swap as part of it's Eco Fun Fair. And you're invited! You can swap or donate good-quality clothes you no longer need, and pick up some great new-to-you clothes in return.

How it works

The swap works on a system of credits. Your items will first be assessed to make sure they meet our acceptance criteria. Each accepted clothing item will receive a credit value from 1 to 3. You can use the credits during the swap to "pay" for clothing you'd like to get in exchange. All clothing must be accepted and evaluated to receive credits you can redeem on event day.

If you wish to donate clothes instead of swapping, any credits you would have earned will be put into a universal pool that can be used by anyone without credits on the day of the event.

Acceptable items

  • Any baby, children's, youth, or adult, male/female/unisex clothing in good condition, without pilling, rips or stains.
  • Dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, tops
  • Coats, jerseys, athletic wear, etc.
  • Clothes from any season

Items NOT accepted

  • Shirts with event logos like high school/camp logos, gym shirts, marathon shirts
  • Undergarments, underwear, boxers, socks, bras
  • Accessories and jewellery
  • Footwear of any kind
  • Hats, scarves, gloves

Credit system

One credit will be given for plain basic tees, plain tanks, flannels, etc.

Two credits will be given for jeans, elevated button-ups, fall jackets, etc.

Three credits will be given for vintage articles, nice brands and unique items.

Dropping items off at the event

There will be a clothing swap intake table where you can bring your items to be received and assessed. You can bring clothing for assessment as early as 11 am on event day, and during the swap itself (up until 3:30pm).

Dropping items off before the event

You can also drop your items off for assessment before the event. We welcome this!

    • Bring your items in a bag and leave them on the porch.
    • Include a slip of paper in your bag with your full name, phone, and email address clearly written on it, and please make a note if you are donating your items to the swap
    • We will get back to you within a few days to a week to let you know your items were received, how many credits you have, and whether you have items that were not accepted that you'll need to pick up.

What happens at the event

The Eco Fun Fair opens at 1pm, and at that point, you will be able to browse the swap and use your credits for items you'd like. To redeem your credits, you must bring the items you would like to our check-out table, where we will look up the credits you have and deduct what you are "buying" from your credit total. No credits? No problem - ask at the check-out table to see if there are any credits you can use from our "universal pool."

The swap closes at 5pm, but please try to use your credits before 4:30pm. At 4:30pm we'll have a half-hour "free" period - all Eco Fun Fair attendees are welcome at that point to take anything left in the swap - for free!

Unused credits and leftover clothing

Your credits cannot be used after the swap ends, nor can you re-claim items you've already exchanged for credit. Any items left after 5pm will be donated to the Red Door Family Shelter

Thanks for swapping with us!
